Abstract: Field Experience, YWCA, Fall 2017: The mother went to work at her job located in Portage and when she returned home she noticed her estranged husband waiting for her at the door. The mother had mentioned that her children were inside and that she did not want her children to witness them fighting, so she and her estranged husband remained outside further away from the door so her children cannot see nor hear the argument. The argument consisted of her recently leaving him due to multiple domestic assault incidents and wanting a divorce. The judge granted her a restraining order for up to ninety days due to the sensitivity of the case and further investigation is needed.
FLE Content Area Reflection: I chose this particular scenario to be under Family Law and Public Policy because in this case the judge saw that the well-being of the family was for a restraining order to be in place. The mother had already tried to leave many of times, but the father would not let her. This indicates that not only is the mother in danger due to the abuse, but the children are as well seeing that he did not care that the children were home.
